Membership Structure
The Forest Genetics Council represents the agencies that manage, produce, and use improved reforestation materials in British Columbia. These include the forest industry, BC Ministry of Forests, seed producers, seed users (i.e., non-orchard owners), and the forest genetics research community.
Each ‘stakeholder group’ nominates its representative(s). Forest industry representatives may be affiliated with companies or associations. The Chief Forester of B.C. (CF) appoints councillors from the nominees. The CF also appoints two co-chairs – one from the Ministry and one from the forest industry. See FGC Bylaws for more information on FGC membership.
